Blog STAR Jessica Knows decorates and reviews Uppercase Living decor! - http://jessicaknows.com/2009/03/uppercase-living-helped-me-fake-upscale-decorating/
I first met Tara on Wahm.com. She was active and seemed to everywhere on the internet! Where ever I went, she was already there!
I had never heard of Cherish Bound previous to meeting Tara online, but being unheard of is actually a great plus to me because I have no interest in products or businesses that have too much market saturation. At the time I was focused mainly on another Direct Sales business and also a jewelry business.
Months later, I created an account on Twitter and after being on twitter for a little while, I can across Tara again! Seriously, it seems like she could be 18 places at once! I was having a lot of fun with Tara online and in getting to know her and her business, I realized that Cherish Bound enveloped some very important values that I held dear.
I had envisioned to write my own book someday about my life and the many unfortunate events that led me to where I am today. In business, it's vital to know your "why". Because that is what drives a person to succeed. If the why is not big enough, there won't be enough motivation to move a person forward, especially if the dreams are big.
I literally would have to write a book to adequately convey the history and meaning behind my "why". So I'll just say the history is a road of pain, trials, tribulations and injustice. But the good part of that is it created a monumental "why" in my heart and soul. It's that "why" that keeps me pushing forward despite having massive obstacles and hardships in my life.
Statistics show that most people who get into a Direct Sales business drop out after a short time. The reason for that is because their WHY is not big enough. Listen to the reasons people give for wanting to join the Cherish Bound business. If the reasons given are things like - "This would be perfect for me because I need additional income" or "This would fit perfectly into my family's schedule" or "I love pictures and scrapbooking" or "I'm looking to work from home", etc., those reasons, although very important, do not indicate a big enough why. Therefore, if you're looking for a Business Builder, there would not be enough motivation to build a real business.
Tara, if you read this, you know some of the extreme obstacles I've had in the Direct Sales business I've been working so hard for. And there have been so many more extreme obstacles that I have not shared with you. I have had people deliberately and maliciously try to run me out of business. I guarantee that anyone else would have given up the business a long time ago. So, why have I refused to give up and have pushed forward despite the obstacles? Because my WHY is HUGE.
You see, my "why" is much deeper and more meaningful than just making money, caring for my family, etc., even though those things are included. I have a destiny I'm fighting for. A destiny of being a leader, of making a massive difference in this world. There's a quote that says something like "Believe in yourself, even though nobody else does - that's what makes you a winner". Nobody else believes in me, but I know that I'm destined to help many fulfill their dreams. To fulfill my own destiny, I have to be in a meaningful business. And Cherish Bound is an extremely meaningful business to me in so many ways that I can't adequately describe here.
Tara, I'm an Eagle just waiting to be set free to fly. I would love to have a mentor that truly believes in me and a business that allows me to grow my business unrestrained. If I am picked to win, that would mean the world to me because it would mean someone else outside of myself believes in me, believes in my destiny and believes my why is big enough to help move a company and it's vision into greatness. Be the first to pick me as the winner and I guarantee you would never regret it.
It's Not just Toys!
The CPSIA does not just affect toys--it regulates all products for children under 12. Clothing, school supplies, cloth diapers, car seats, boy scout patches, bicycles, sippy cups--everything. Congress in its wisdom decided that a problem caused by irresponsible mass-market toymakers should be solved with a one-size-fits-all solution for dozens of industries totally unrelated to toys.
The Handmade Toy Alliance supports the parallel efforts of other industries to gain relief from the onerous enforcement mechanisms imposed by the CPSIA. Although we have proposed our own ideas that would help small toymakers, we believe that the following reforms of the CPSIA would be fair, just, and appropriate to all affected industries:
- The law should be scaled back to focus on products that were an issue in the first place (namely: toys and children's jewelry).
- Enforcement should allow component versus unit testing. Manufacturers and/or industry groups, in cooperation with the CPSC, should decide the most rational method for their situation.
- Testing frequency rules should be adjusted to allow smaller companies that deal with smaller runs the ability to stay in business.
- Random testing could be part of the legislation in place of some of the more burdensome requirements, especially for "low volume" companies.
- Companies should be allowed to keep testing certificates on file instead of re-sending them with each order.
- The law should be simplified to be understandable, while maintaining (or improving) its effectiveness.
- Batch Labeling should be required only for companies producing more than a certain quantity.
I'm not an extremist about anything really, but I do try to be as environmentally responsible as I possibly can. One of my major "hang-ups" is wasting paper or having everything printed out on paper. And this is a major reason for this blog - an attempt to minimize waste.
In a Direct Sales business, especially the one I'm in, I have catalogs, lots of flyers, FAQs, Tips, Font Lists, etc. An absolute TON of documents to be printed out. To waste such a high volume of paper and printer ink to disseminate information and sales flyers drives me absolutely bananas. The sales are temporary, new catalogs come out and then you have new updated Order Forms, Invitations, etc., etc. These are all necessary I know, but why not try to reduce the volume of paper going into the landfill and save money at the same time?
About a year ago, I gave one of our beautiful catalogs to my Dentist's office. And gave him an adorable expression for his office - "You don't have to brush all your teeth, just the ones you want to keep!". Since all the girls in the office were interested in looking at the catalog, I left it there. About a month later at another appointment, I asked if they had finished looking through the catalog & if they had any questions. Then the lady at the front desk told me that she had thrown out the catalog!! I was so shocked! For one, Uppercase Living catalogs are so beautiful - how could you even think of throwing it away, and it was a current catalog! To me this was like a slap in the face and was such a senseless waste! After that, I ended up finding another Dentist!
In an effort to cut down on senseless waste, I have documents and flyers posted here that would normally be printed out. This is why I love Scribd so much. You can "show" documents without wasting paper. And if someone wants to print the documents, they can do that too. It's at least an attempt to reduce waste.
I wish Direct Sales
companies and retail businesses would be more conscious about this and
make more of an effort to reduce waste. The catalog needs to be seen on
the web in such a way that a person can "flip through" the pages like
you can do with scribd documents. This is just a common sense way to
deal with the paper volume and save money at the same time.

I don't want to come across weird, but I just have a strong feeling that the people I'm looking for can be found on Social Media. If you're reading this blog post and you found me through Twitter or Facebook, there's a chance we may be a business "match". There's no eHarmony for business alliances, but I just know that I'm meant to find team members to work with me that are like-minded and can help me create a powerful business synergy in this particular niche business. More than just making money - a truely meaningful business with real connections with each other. I really believe there can be "chemistry" or synergy in business. I've read about it with tremendous fascination, but I've only experienced a hint of it. Just enough to cause me to realize I want more - much more. Not just more money, although I need that, but more meaning, more connection, and awesome synergy. And as a natural organic result, income will follow.
I'm in a meaningful business. I just need a team of connected, meaningful people to go with me. I cannot reach my dreams until I find & encourage this synergenic group of poeple that I believe in my heart can be found - in social media. If you have not heard of Uppercase Living, I guarantee you will. I'm here to find my "matches" before someone else does. Recently a mom blogger commented to me - "been there, done that, not interested in selling anything". I realized that she had no clue what this business is about. It's not just about selling just another type of product - it's about changing people's lives with the power of words. Watch this video from Guy Kawaski - this is exactly what is in my heart:
Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind" Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936), English Author
